Glass Tile Usage

One of the main benefits of glass tiles is their functionality and versatility. Pools, fireplaces, walls, floors, and kitchen backsplashes are only a few places around the home where they work well. Additionally, they can be installed in patterns to add a stylish allure to any interior.

We recommend installing them in areas of the house with a lot of moisture, like kitchens, bathrooms, or pools. Glass is particularly waterproof, with an absorbency rate of 0%. In contrast, ceramic has an absorbency rate of 0.5–3%. Consequently, glass tiles can be slippery, so we recommend using a non-slip sealant on surfaces.

    • The Coastal Glass Collection includes interlocking tiles in a mixture of matte and gloss coatings. The glass mosaics are available in seven soft, natural tones and six metallic shades. This collection is not suitable for submerged areas, like pools or fountains.

    Installation

    Glass tiles are unbelievably resilient to cracks and breaks. But glass is still glass. If you are planning to install them by yourself, you must be extra careful.

    Grouting requires more precision than other types of floor tiles. Since glass is clear and transparent, the adhesive may show up easily. If you attempt to install a glass tile backsplash yourself, it may be difficult to accomplish a professional-looking outcome. Therefore, you may consider hiring a professional for installation. If you choose a professional installer, make sure they have experience in glass tiles.

    Since showers come in a variety of sizes and designs, the tiles may require special cuts. A professional installer may be needed to adjust and cut the tiles.

    Just like ceramic tile, we suggest buying at least 10% extra floor tile than needed. If any damage happens, you can easily replace your tiles.
